Mextrópoli: 1st International Festival of Architecture and the City

In partnership with the Mexico City Government, Arquine will present MEXTRÓPOLI, the first International Festival of Architecture and the City, from March 22 – 26, 2014 in Mexico City.

MEXTRÓPOLI will aim to forge links between citizens and architects, designers, urban planners, sociologists, anthropologists, artists and politicians, and will examine the question of what a desirable metropolis could be.

MEXTRÓPOLI also aspires to position Mexico City as an epicenter of architecture and a leader in creative transformation, and as a critical project that will encourage and promote culture, urban regeneration, and the artistic heritage of Mexico City. MEXTRÓPOLI will host over 30 academic, cultural and tourist activities, held principally in the historic center of the city. The fesitval will include lectures of leading architects, critics and artists as well as dialogues between urban planners, writers and former mayors of cities who transformed their own cities through design.

Presenters include: Former Mayor of Bogota Jaime Lerner; Former Mayor of Curitiba
Jordi Hereu; Former Mayor of Barcelona Eduardo Souto de Moura; and speakers from the UK, Italy, France, Mexico, India, the USA, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Chile.

More information about the festival can be found here: http://www.mextropoli.mx/.
